Our Benefits Team works diligently to create healthcare plans that are comprehensive and valuable to you and your family. If you work 30 or more hours per week, you are eligible to participate the month after you are hired. We offer four plan designs that provide you with the option to choose the plan that best meets your needs. One plan doesn’t even charge a deduction out of your bi-weekly payroll!
We also offer Dental insurance, two Vision plans and Disability benefits if you work 30 or more hours per week and Life Insurance (company paid and voluntary) if you work at least 20 hours per week. Full time and part time employees are also eligible to have Flexible Spending Accounts for medical and dependent care expenses.
Retirement Savings and Investments
The best opportunity to invest in your future is by saving! We offer a number of ways for you to save for you or your family’s future. We encourage all regularly scheduled (full time and part time) employees to enroll in our 401K retirement plan. Upon enrolling, Mercantile will match 100% of the first 5% of your pay and you are vested immediately! You can also purchase Mercantile Bank Stock through a payroll deduction and participate in 529 College Savings Plans.

Paid Time Off
We know that spending time away from work to do something you enjoy is good for our employees. This is why Mercantile provides generous paid time off benefits. If you are full time working 30 hours per week or more, you will receive 3 weeks (120 hours) of paid vacation per year. If you work 20 – 29 hours per week, you will receive 50 hours of vacation and even if you are regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours per week, you will receive 15 hours of vacation. Officer level employees receive a minimum of 4 weeks of paid vacation time.
We also provide paid sick time, so there is no need to use vacation time to care for yourself or a family member. Mercantile Bank also pays Holiday time for days when the bank closes due to an observed Holiday.
Being active and living a healthy lifestyle is important to us. We encourage and motivate each other by participating in fitness challenges throughout the year. There are also a number of educational opportunities available on physical and mental health. If you like to participate in running, cycling or triathlon events, Mercantile will support you by reimbursing you for three events per year!
